Etymologically, "security" means being without trouble, care, or fear and dreading no evil.
*
The other meanings of "security" which can be related to the purpose of the UDHR are:
1. Protection against something dreadful that might happen.
2. A state of feeling happy and safe from danger or worry.
3. The circumstances of not being exposed to danger.
Thus, the right to security signifies living without fear and danger, whether they emanate from humans or natural phenomena.
A person, group, or nation cannot truly enjoy security unless the whole human family is secure. Thus, the notion of national security without international or universal security is a myth, as evidenced by COVID-19.
One individual's insecurity in China, resulting from a COVID-19 infection, evolved into a "Universal Insecurity."
* "Security" and its adjective "Secure" consist of "se" and "curity" or "cure".
"Se" is a prefix from Latin that means"without, apart, aside, away".
"Cure" originated from the Latin "cura", which signifies "care, concern, trouble," with many figurative extensions over time, such as "study; administration; office of a parish priest; a mistress," and also "means of healing, successful remedial treatment of a disease".
