Realpolitik is a school of thought in which politicians learn how to acquire and retain political power, rather than how to regulate human relations on the basis of morality, justice and True Law. In this system, power is no longer a means of serving humanity and realising good governance; instead, it becomes an end in itself. Therefore, rather than maintaining a balance between human rights, Realpolitik preserves the position of those in power and reproduces an order that places the interests of a powerful minority above the rights of the majority.
Realpolitik has four fundamental and interconnected characteristics: lying, irresponsibility, immorality and conspiracy. These are not isolated phenomena, but four faces of a single structure.
Of these four characteristics, irresponsibility is the most visible and readily verifiable, because it manifests itself above all in silence in the face of reasonable questions and demands for accountability. For this reason, this section of the website will focus primarily on documenting and challenging this irresponsibility at both national and international levels.
Every human being who considers themselves committed to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights must challenge Realpolitik at both levels. At the national level, every citizen has a responsibility to question the power structure in their own country. At the international level, the United Nations can serve as the common focal point for this global demand for accountability.
I am a Swedish citizen; therefore, my primary focus is on challenging Realpolitik in my own country. However, this by no means exonerates Realpolitik in other countries.
